Neighborhood Watch Program
The Neighborhood Watch Program is a cohesive, inclusive program that unifies neighborhoods under the common goal of safety. The St. Louis County Police Department, specifically the City of Jennings, believes that our cities are built on the strength of our citizens and the relationships we have built with them. Everyday St. Louis County Police Officers call upon citizens to be their eyes and ears. The Neighborhood Watch Program allows citizens to assist in the fight against crime and creates an opportunity for Law Enforcement and the citizens to bond through service.
The Neighborhood Watch Program is a group of people living in the same area who want to make their neighborhood safer by working together and in conjunction with local law enforcement to reduce crime and improve their quality of life. Neighborhood Watch empowers citizens and communities to become active in emergency preparedness, as well as the fight against crime and community disasters.
Some of the benefits the Neighborhood Watch Program provides are as follows:
· Deters criminal activity
· Creates a greater sense of security and reduces fear of crime
· Builds bonds with neighbors and law enforcement officers
· Stimulates neighborhood awareness
· Reduces the risk of becoming a crime victim and in turn reduces the physical, financial,
and psychological costs of crime
· Instructs residents on how to observe and report suspicious activities observed in their
community
· Offers continued education and resource contacts for victims of crime
· Enhances homeland security
· Works collaboratively with other local government and get involved in other community
activities
Please remember to report any suspicious activity to Law Enforcement personnel and do not take action yourself.
Our Neighborhood Watch Meetings are held the 2nd Thursday of every month at 5pm via Zoom until further notice.
